![]() ![]() In 2016, Spotify also set the parameters for users to qualify for Wrapped, with them having to have had an account before the cutoff date and have listened to at least five different artists and 30 different tracks. These would change over the years but have stayed broadly the same. Spotify, are often testing and launching improvements and new features. They are supposed to make you start the year listening to something new tailored to your liking by Spotify’s amazing recommendation algorithms. I need to confess, I’m in love with Tastebreakers. ![]() It wasn't until 2017 that the foundations of the now-familiar identity were put into place, with personalized listening stats and interactivity. This year brought Spotify Wrapped which tells you lots of stats (which we’ll be analyzing) and two playlists: Top 100 and Tastebreakers. 90 of what I listen to is Electronic/Dance music, which has been the case for years, and my playlist was almost entirely the same thing. Instead, it introduced me to artists within my favorite genre that I haven't been listening to. The name was changed to Wrapped in 2016, but the format stayed the same. Tastebreakers seems like a misnomer because it didn't introduce me to new genres or types of music at all. Wrapped started in 2015 when it was known as the Year in Music, listing the biggest songs of the year and a user's top 100 songs. 2020 Wrapped is the most feature-loaded edition to date and highlights just how much the concept has evolved since it was launched. The Wrapped lists give Spotify users a look back at their listening habits during the year, as well as providing an insight into its users' listening trends as a whole. It is not possible to hear everything you’d like and things will slip through the net. I concede it is too much to ask that every artist finds its way to every subscriber. ![]() Spotify's annual Wrapped list has been released just in time for the holiday season and, as ever, there are some new features for users to enjoy. The Spotify end-of-year breakdown (or ‘Spotify Wrapped 2018’ as it is known) is a useful thing to have but I think time should be spend organising things a bit more. ![]()
